RFID chip manufacturer NXP Semiconductor was founded in 2006, its predecessor was the Netherlands Philips in 1953 established semiconductor division, headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands.  NXP products are widely used, covering such markets and application fields as secure connected vehicles, mobile devices, industrial Internet of Things, smart cities, smart homes, and communication infrastructure.

NXP (NXP) ultra-high frequency tag chip Ucode series, widely used in clothing retail, vehicle management, brand protection and other fields.  Each generation of chips in this series is named after an application, some of which are less common on the market because of their niche applications.  Today, with Xiaobian to understand the Ucode series NXP chips.

NXP Ucode series chips

The U7, U8, and U9 generations of the Ucode family are the most widely used.  Also like Impinj, each generation of NXP has more than one chip.  For example, U7 contains Ucode7, Ucode7m, Ucode 7xm-1k, Ucode 7xm-2k, and Ucode 7Xm +.  The first two are high sensitivity, low memory.  The last three models have more memory and are slightly less sensitive.

The U8 gradually replaced the U7(except for the U7xm's three large memory chips) due to its higher sensitivity.  The latest U9 chip is also hot, with even -24dBm read sensitivity, but smaller memory.

Common NXP chips are mainly concentrated in: U7, U8.  Most of the label lines are designed by manufacturers with the capability of label research and development, and few see the public version.  Perhaps this is foreign RFID tag chip development trend.  What is the correlation between chip size, sensitivity and chip memory?

1.  The chip size becomes smaller, so that the same size of wafer can produce more wafers, and the output increases obviously;

2, the sensitivity is getting higher and higher, now the highest has reached -24dBm, can cope with the customer's distant reading distance needs, applied in more fields, can also reduce the number of installed reading equipment in the same application, for the end customer, save the cost of the overall program.

3, the memory becomes smaller, which seems to be the sacrifice that has to be made to improve sensitivity.  However, many customers do not need much memory.  They just need to be able to make the code of all items not repeat.  Other information of each item (such as when it was produced, where it has been, when it left the factory, etc.) can be recorded in the system for the corresponding code, and do not need to write all into the code.

The UHF tag is actually a small storage space.  The RFID reader only reads the data in the tag through special commands, so the length of the data that can be read and written depends on the RFID electronic tag itself.  For details, you can ask the RFID tag supplier.

Note: All read and write operations below are performed in hexadecimal form, and the data length must be in word (word) units (2byte, or 4 bits, such as 0001).
